Youth Faith Formation K5-9th grade including First Communion and Confirmation

Thinking of Becoming a Catechist

We are always looking for faithful parishioners who want to share the Joy of the Gospel with our young people.  There are a variety of ways you can serve in our faith formation ministry.  You can be a Children's Liturgy Leader, a k5-8th grade Catechist, an Assistant Catechist, a substitute Catechist, a Vacation Bible School Crew or Station Leader.  You must be VIRTUS trained. Go to to access the new online training platform.

Please contact Leslie McGowan at if you are interested in volunteering in our Faith Formation program or if you have any questions.  You may also send a text to 843-670-5851 (Leslie McGowan's home cell phone).

At the present time (2018-2019 faith formation year) I am looking for a 4th grade Assistant Catechist, a 5th grade Assistant Catechist, a 6/7th grade Lead Catechist and an 8th grade Assistant Catechist. I need adults to be Lead Catechists. You will need to be availabe most Sundays during the school year, August-end of April, beginning of May. You may also need to attend training on a Saturday (no more than 3 a year). I am willing to accept high school juniors or seniors to be assistant Catechists and to lead Children's Liturgy. If you are a high schooler and enjoy sharing your faith with younger children and are available most Sunday mornings during the school year, please talk to me. Men, we need you to be a part of this program: whether it be as a Catechist, an Assistant Catechist or leading Children's Liturgy. I would especially love to see some dads or older gentlemen volunteer to be Catechists or Assistant Catechists. Having strong Christian male role leaders is so needed for the boys in our program at all levels.

Take a look at the Qualities of a Catechist.  If you have these, please prayerfully consider being a part of our ministry
